Prom Tutorial

Ok before anyone expects to see a video I want to apologize for not having one! I was trying to download the software that I need and for whatever reason I wasn't able to download it...SO I decided to do pictures yet again and yes with my phone camera :(. This time I used my daughter instead of me since it's a prom look. I found it appropriate to use someone in the prom age range (and we all know I'm not that). :) Without anymore waiting, here you go.... 2011 Prom look:

  • Here is Shaylee's eye without any makeup or primer.
  • I put NYX white primer all over her lid from the brow bone down to the lash line.

  • For the eyeshadow I used Maybelline Charcoal Smokes Quad Palette. I added the brow bone color all over the lid and up to the brow bone and then the Lid color I patted on just the lid and blended that just barely into the brow bone color.

  • Then I added the Crease color to the crease of her eye and blended that out and added the Outer Corner color to the outer corner and then a soft brown to tone down the greys from the 28 Palette Coastal Scents.

  • Once everything was blended I used L'Oreal Le Kohl Pencil in Carbon Black (this is perfect for blending and creating a smokey eye) and also Too Faced Stiletto eyeshadow to seal everything, filled in her eyebrows with a brown eyeliner and then finished with L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara.

  • Here are a couple pictures of the eyes up close and one in the sun light

  • And here is the total look after pinkish peachy blush and soft pink lips :)

I hope everybody enjoys this tutorial! It's super easy because the colors in the Maybelline palette are titled LID, CREASE, etc and you just follow that. I added a few extra things to tone down the colors since I was working on a teenager. I didn't want anything to overpower her natural beauty or make her look like anything but herself with just a touch of something extra :)

Here is a picture of the shadow quad I used and you can see where it's marked which one to use. The colors can be much deeper so it's great for the older person too. I just kept it light for obvious reasons. The shimmer in this palette is so pretty too! It's more shimmer than matte for sure.

Here is a list of everything that I used today
  • Revlon PhotoReady Foundation
  • Palladio Rice Powder
  • Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powder in 010 Brighten
  • Rimmel 005 Pure lip liner
  • BH Cosmetics for the blush and lip gloss
  • Along with everything else I listed on this post

Let me know what you think! I'd love to get feedback on how I'm doing :)

Be Blessed Always

Attempt my first video tutorial!

So the weekend is here and it's time for my first tutorial! I'm more nervous about this then I was about any session that I've had thus far! I hear it can get quite time consuming with the editing that needs done, finding music for it, and being a wife, mother, full time employee and committed to my church for leadership, I have to fit this in somewhere. I'm starting the video here soon and editing throughout the weekend so stay tuned for the video this week. I think since prom is this coming weekend (May 7th) I'm going to do a look for that. Very smokey, shimmery, pretty look is what I'm going for.

Stay tuned because it's in the works now! Wish me luck......................

Bridal look with the 28 palette

So I was playing around with one of the palette's that I got yesterday and came up with a very delicate bridal look. This look was so easy to do! I didn't do my highlight or contour on my face but I did focus on the eyes for a soft natural 2beautiful look. Pretend my hair is all flowy and whatnot ;) (Again these pictures are with my camera phone for now) and I also put boxes around the colors I used in the palette. I also took a shot of the eyes with them slightly closed so you could see the color. These pictures really don't do justice to how beautiful the colors actually were.

You can see the colors a little better in the palette. I finished the eye with a white liner in the lower water line to brighten the eyes and black liquid eyeliner and mascara. I didn't do much of a wing on the eyeliner because I wanted to keep it very natural. For the lips I used a peachy pink gloss from another palette I got. I believe it's from BH Cosmetics (Amazon) and a soft blush in a peachy color.

I hope you like this look and see the beauty in it as I did. I'm not trying to show off me, just the colors from the palette. This could be a prom look too for the more natural girl.

Let me know (good or bad) what you think about this look and if you'd like to see more like this or something different....maybe funky and wild with bright colors??? Stay tuned, that could be next........

Be blessed always!

Wet N Wild Knock on Wood

First let me say that I know my pictures aren't the greatest, but I promise you this look was super cute! I'm wearing it today and 3 people have already complemented me on it (and it's only 7:12 am!) First let me show you the palette.

I can't even begin to express how impressed I am with the pigmentation of Wet N Wild products!
Here you can see the swipe from the palette to skin.

Ok so I started with a primer and then added the browbone color all over my entire lid all the way up to my eyebrow line.
  • Next I added the Eyelid color to my eyelid (go figure right?) :) I kept the outer corner a little lighter and let the browbone color show through a little more to create that brighter inner eye look.
  • Last I added the crease color to the outer corner of my eye by circling the brush in the outer corner and then blending that in toward my nose (not putting color to my nose just toward it)
  • The browbone wasn't light enough for me so I added MAC Vanilla to the browbone and worked it in toward the inner corner of my eye just to add some light to it.

  • I finished up with a brown liner (Not sure what I used sorry) and the almighty Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black.

Here is the finished look!

Again my phone camera isn't the greatest but it's something right? This is so great for any skin tone, any color eye or hair. The mauve tones didn't come through too well but you can see the actual color from the palette above. The colors are much deeper than shown here but I tried I promise!

Requested Blue/Brown look

I had a follower ask me to put a Blue and Brown shadow look up from YouTube and although I don't have a video for that, I found a very talented MUA that posted a tutorial on these colors that I find to be flawless and 2beautiful! Keep the ideas coming and I'll keep posting what I find. If you don't like it, no worries! Tell me and I'll find something else within the colors you requested. Stay tuned for later today because I did do a Wet N Wild look for work today and once I edit the pictures the best I can, I'm going to post those. :)

Brows a go-go

I have found the all in one brow perfecter! I beg you to go out and buy it. It's a little on the pricey side for us budget friendly chics but so worth it! Benefit has shown themselves worthy yet again. I'm keeping this short and sweet because I've found a tutorial on Benefit's website that explains how to use the kit. Here is the link for the product. (be sure and check amazon too)
And here is the step by step instructions on how to use this. You can't go wrong with this product!
There is also a smokey eye brow kit too but I only tried the one linked above. I'm going to post a tutorial on how to shape your eyebrows too really soon so keep an eye out for that!
As always be blessed! And if any of you have this or go out and get it, let me know what you think about it!

Cool as a Cucumber

Being on vacation I'm out in the sun a lot, laying out, watching the kids play in the ocean and being out here I'm getting quite a lot of sun. (i know I should be wearing sunscreen) so since I'm getting soooooo much sun, I needed something to cool it down. I didn't bring everything from my house for my skin so I searched the frig for a remedy and thought why not try a cucumber? My face feels amazing! Cucumbers are not only good for the eyes but they are so great for sunburn! Try it and let me know what you think. (sorry for the short blog and nothing extra, I'm blogging from my phone) Be blessed and 2beautiful always! (and wear sunscreen) :)

CLear lip liner what??

I was quite hesitant about purchasing this lip liner because in my head I'm thinking "You are a moron for getting yourself suckered into buying CLEAR lip liner". But man am I glad I didn't listen to myself (yet again). This is the best thing that Maybelline could have come up with going into Spring/Summer. Out with the matte deep colors and in with the shiny pretty lip glosses right??? I love love love my lip glosses but on some of them they bleed :( or the lip liner is too stark for the gloss until now! Now you only need one lip liner and you can wear many different lip glosses and it will always match. The color doesn't bleed, it lasts longer, and there is no making a mistake with application for sure. :) I've included a link to Maybelline's website so you can see the product. This retails for about $6 around here but always check Amazon for better deals. I hear it's anywhere from $5-$9 across the US. You can buy it at pretty much any larger change store (Walmart, Kmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc) so run out and get yours. I think it's a must have for Spring, especially if you love wearing lip gloss. It's very smooth and easy to apply. There is no smell to it and it doesn't take much at all so it will last forever. I'm hooked on this lip liner. If you have it or get it, let me know what you think about it. I'm always interested in what you think. :)
As always be blessed and 2beautiful!

Palladio rice papers

So here is my first 2beautiful review on a product that I love but it goes unnoticed soooo much! It's called Palladio Rice Paper. It's amazing! It comes in different shades, but I've found that Natural works best on all different skins types. They are oil-absorbing blotting tissues. You go from super shiny to 2beautiful smooth in seconds! For those of you in the Elkhart area, Sally's Beauty Supply has all Palladio products buy 2 get 1 free so go check it out. Palladio is all natural so there are no chemicals or harsh stuff that goes on your face. (remember anything that you put on your face gets absorbed into your skin) All of the Palladio products are good, I just like this one the best. :) If any of you use this product or go out and buy it, let me know what you think of it too! I would love to hear from you!!

Hello 2beautiful people!! I am so excited to share this review with all of you! I have found the miracle stick for your eyes! It's Benefit's Eye Bright. You can purchase this on Amazon for as little as $10! Trust me it is worth every penny spent. If you don't wear a lot of makeup but want some life in your face, buy this! If you wear makeup everyday and need something to liven up your face, buy this! Of all the concealers that I have purchased over the years (and it's been lots) this is by far the greatest one to note. It doesn't crease, it doesn't fade, it's great for any skin tone, great for under eye circles (just make sure you blend with a skin tone concealer at the end of the eye bright application so you don't have white circles underneath). The color is a very soft pink and it goes on so well. I never leave the house without this no matter where I'm going. It's so easy to apply. I also purchased the compact version that comes with the Bo-ing concealer and this is fabulous for my clients! I have everything I need in one small container and I believe I purchased this at Sephora or Ulta for $12. You just use the pencil like a crayon and "color" starting at the inside corner of your eye and then up to your brow line and then again at the inner corner of your eye and bring it down to the outer corner of your eye. Once it's on, blend it softly. *JLT* (just like that) you have brighter, more attentive eyes! If any of you have this or go out and buy it, let me know please! I would love to hear what you all think about it. B2Beautiful always!! I can't wait to hear some reviews from you!

Too Faced Naked Eye Palette

Howdy 2beautiful viewers! I'm really stoked to tell you about the Too Faced Naked Eye Palette. I used this last night for a bridal trial and I'm in love (I will have really good pictures up soon so check back)! The colors are amazing! I've added a link so you can check out the colors and names. I tried to get a picture of the palette but we know how that goes. ;) So here is my two cents on it. While I am crazy for these shadows I don't think they are as great for brunettes. I tried it on both and I love it more for blondes. Now having said that, I use some of the colors as a highlight or the Stiletto (black) for a smoky look but some of the other colors are too muted for brunettes. This set is more cool colors so it looks great on fair skin or light eyes, light hair. It also comes with I believe 3 cheat cards that you can use if you need some help putting the colors together. There is a little drawer that has an application brush with the sponge on one end and a stiff slanted brush on the other. The brush part is great to start your "V" in the outer corner of your eye or to create a thicker eyeliner look. This is obviously my opinion only and some of you that have this palette may totally disagree with me and that's ok. I like the Natural palette by Too Faced for brunettes. (I will be doing a review on that soon) The colors in the Naked  palette are very pigmented and they blend so well. You can do so much with this palette. I didn't even have to get my highlighting products out because I could use the Pink Cheeks (light pink shimmer) as my highlight and it was 2beautiful! The client that I worked on had very thin eyelashes so I was able to use the Stiletto (matte black) to create a beautiful illusion of a thick eyelash and it held very well. You can get this set at Sephora for $35 or check out Amazon (I always get better deals there) I give this palette 2beautiful thumbs up! Check out the link and let me know if you've tried it! I want to hear other opinions on this set.
Be blessed always!

Back to the Basics

I wanted to talk a little bit about the basics of skincare instead of reviewing makeup or giving tips and tricks. This isn't rocket science nor is it probably something that everyone isn't already aware of. It's just good to go over it again. So many people ask me how to make their face look brighter or bags look smaller under their eyes, or skin softer, less oily, or more moisturized. I could tell you so many products that would conceal those problems and they would work....temperarally. It would be a quick fix. If you want great skin, it starts within! Drink buttloads of water (yes I just said buttloads). You can never drink too much water. Your skin needs to be hydrated. Water is great for your skin, hair, nails, waistline (hello?) so why wouldn't you drink lots of it. And now days there are so many ways to disguise the taste of water so don't give me that you don't like water. :) And what you eat affects how you look. You put junk in, junk comes out....EAT BETTER! Also, wash your face every single night and every single morning. This is soooo important. For some of you, you don't wash your face everyday and you never get pimples or anything. But I challenge you to wash your daily twice a day and watch the change take place! Washing your face with a great cleanser does amazing wonders for your skin and complexion, even the feel and appearance. Also, you don't need crazy expensive products to clean your face or to moisturize. Some may work better than others but use what you can afford. Anything is better then nothing right?
Here is a link that gives you all the science gargin about moisturizers and what is good for your skin, check it out! Moisturizers will help with flaky skin, oily skin, dull skin, saggy skin, all skin! Again you will be amazed at what taking care of your skin will do.  Another thing is exfoliate at least once a week (especially with summer coming up). You won't need as much product because there will be less dead skin to cover. Remember my lemon and sugar stuff? Do it? it's cheap and it works! You won't need to spend any money at all but your face will thank you. These simples steps are so important and create a fabulous foundation for your makeup to go on. You will use less makeup, you won't need as much products to correct because the problems won't be there, you will look younger, and feel better!
I hope this helps to spark some interest in taking care of your skin from the beginning. We have to stop looking so much at quick fixes and start with the basics to get 2beautiful skin. Once you start this process you won't want to stop! It works and it doesn't take much effort at all.
Be blessed always and always 2beautiful! :)
