WNW post from Musings of a Muse

Wet n Wild Dreamweaver ColorIcon Trio Eyeshadow Swatches

by the Muse on July 25, 2011

The new Wet n Wild DreamWeaver Collection brings out six new ColorIcon Trio Eyeshadows for $2.99 each.
These are popping up for a limited time in drugstores however I personally don’t think you have to rush to grab them as they have alot of similar shades in them from ColorIcon’s past…and some even remind me of shades from both the Fall and Holiday 2010 release. So if you own alot of WnW already just check your stash for possible dupes before dishing out any cash.
Here’s a few swatches, I’ll follow up with a review soon!

Will you be hauling them?
Available now at drugstores.

I can't wait to get my hands on these!!!!

Hemorrhoids????

While I was at the drug store the other day I picked up quite the collection of items. One of those items were hemorrhoid gel. :) Now I'm not going to tell you how to rid hemorrhoids because that is just gross (for a beauty blog anyway), I'm going to tell you how you can help reduce those suitcases under your eyes! I've heard about hemorrhroid cream under your eyes for years but never tried it. (so for you skeptics....I know this is no big shock to some of you but because I've now tried it, I'm going to review it). I bought the cooling gel instead of the cream because it just sounded better to try that. I've used it for about a week and it really does work! I just put a small amount on my finger and then dab it under my eyes, being very careful not to get it in my eyes, and just work it into my skin and out to the outer corner of my eye. I have had no reaction to the product and it has made a difference in my "aging marks". :) I like the coolinig gel because it's lighter and doesn't leave a creamy residue on your face. Once it dries it's very light on your skin.

Now this isn't a miracle remedy by any means. It doesn't completly rid my undereye puffiness since this is only a temporary fix, but it does tighten and help some. You can get this cooling gel at CVS, Walmart or any store that sells creams and ointments. I believe the cost is somewhere around $6? That would depend on where you go I'm sure. Make sure with anything you try out on your face that you first test it somewhere that if a reaction would occur it wouldn't send others into a frenzy if they saw you. :) or send you to the hosptial. Usually the back of your wrist is a good sensitive spot.

To tight skin and no hemmorrhoids! :) :) :)

Torture device????????

OK so you decide....is this a torture device or the next greatest thing??
I don't know about any of you but I can't wait to try this out! It's Urban Decay's new Revolution Lash Curler. Ever since I committed to curling my eyelashes, it has made a huge difference in how my lashes appear and that was with my old curler. I can't imagine what this new curler will do! Here is what the website has to say about it:

This sleek lash emancipator abolishes one-size-fits-all curling. The open cage lets you curl your lashes all at once or in sections and won’t pinch your skin!

Do eyelash curlers that look like scary torture devices make you scream? Ours won’t crimp your lashes or pinch your skin because we eliminated the culprit – those maddening bars on either side of your old eyelash curler. This sleek lash emancipator handles deftly with an open cage that allows you to curl your lashes all at once OR in sections (like just the outer lashes). And if your lash line is longer or shorter than average, gone are the days of contending with a standardized cage that was clearly designed with someone else’s eyes in mind (no more one-size-fits-all curling!). We even include 5 replacement pads – swap them out to keep your curler clean and springy. Viva The Revolution!

Check out Urban Decay's website by clicking here. Don't forget to check out Amazon also (but with it being part of Urban Decay's new Fall products I don't know that it will be discounted yet)

I want this just because of how it looks right now! Hopefully I will be just as excited about how it performs right??

Here is to beauty contraptions and long curly lashes!

Cynthia Rowley insired BIRCHBOX

When I received my monthly package from Birchbox I knew it was going to be special by the way it was wrapped in such a beautiful cover! So you can imagine how happy I was when I opened it up and found the following items:

Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser 8 oz/$20 and 16 oz/$32. This perennial award-winner is pH-balanced to gently clear away dirt, oil, and makeup without drying out the skin.

Huile Prodigieuse Multi-usage Dry Oil 50ml/$29.50 and 100ml/$44.50
A makeup artist favorite. This multi-use oil gives face and body a pretty glow (minus any slickness), and it works to smooth flyaways, too. (I have used this on my face and body and it's smells so good and works wonders I promise)

Redken Shine Flash 02 4.4 oz/$17
A must for runway shows, this weightless spray gives hair a brilliant finish. (Your hair doesn't feel weighed down at all when you use this and it isn't oily either)

Zoya Touch Collection Nail Polish in Pandora 0.5 fl oz/$8. Neutral gets a sexy makeover in this creamy, slightly metallic nude. The perfect accessory to summer's bright fashions. (this color is so perfect for the just there pink tone)

Almond and Apricot Kind bar (no price??)
Snack right with this wholesome bar- no preservatives or hard-to-pronounce ingredients. (loved this bar FYI, it tasted yummy!)

All of these items are Cynthia Rowley's favs. I'm super stoked about what I received (as always).

M.O.M Great stuff!!!

In my adventure to find the best home remedies I came across a lot of blogs and posts about Milk of Magnesia. I have struggled daily with oily skin so my ears perked up when I heard you could use m.o.m on your face to rid oily skin (and it can be used for other things)! I ran out and bought some that night (along with other drug store products that I'm testing now..I will post after I review them myself (but you should have seen what I had in my little basket lol). I am insanely impressed with this miracle liquid. If you can get past purchasing it (which I didn't find it to be a big deal) you will fix your oily skin problems in no time. Here are a couple different ways I do it about 2 or 3 times a week:

1.In the evenings I put some m.o.m on a cotton ball and spread it on my freshly cleaned face and leave it on until the morning. I clean it off and then continue with my morning routine. (this will make your laundry basket grow as I change my pillow sheet about every other night to keep it clean)

2. I put it on about 15 minutes before my makeup routine and then rinse it off with water before I start my moisturize, primer, whatever. (this would be if I didn't do it the night before or if I don't need to put it on as long)

I don't have oily skin like I use to!!! It really is amazing! Now some claim that it's a good primer but I like e.l.f's primer for an inexpensive choice or Smashbox primer for a high end choice. Plus it makes your face sort of white so I don't know that I'd like to have that on my face all day, especially in the summer when your trying to get a bronzed look. ;)

I hear it's also great for acne. You would just dab a little bit of m.o.m on your blemish and leave it on overnight and in the morning rinse off.

This can be drying so be careful on how much you use it. You will figure out a good schedule for what your skin needs. Just start with once a week and if that doesn't help, try twice a week and so on.

**Also very important*** Make sure to test this and anything else I blog about to make sure it's safe for your skin. Just because something works for me, doesn't mean that it will work for you! Swab a little bit on the back of your wrist or a small amount on the side of your face to see if you have a reaction to it before you apply it all over your face.

I hope you find this to be as great as I have! if you tried it, let me know what you thought.

e.l.f. Studio High Definition Powder

I am in love with this stuff!!!!! When you put it on you get like an airbrushed look. I did notice if you put too much on you get a white film so less is more with this. ELF is really coming up with their products. I ordered quite a bit of stuff from them recently so that I could check it out and what not and although there were some things I wouldn't waste my money on again, there were others that I would totally invest in, and at such low cost, you would be silly not to try this stuff out! Stay tuned for more reviews on the ELF products that I purchased. I'm itching to tell you guys about the awesome stuff that I bought!

I give this product a 4 out of 5. It does what it says and gives you such a great finish. The packaging is solid and you get a lot of product for such a low cost. I believe I only paid $3.00 because I bought it when they had a 50% off sale (which they have sales all the time so sign up for their emails!) The only reason I didn't say 5 out of 5 is because if you use too much you get a white film so blending out is key! Click here to go to Elf's website and see this product and others.

And remember, stayed tuned because I will be reviewing other stuff I bought from there.

So I'm always on the mad hunt for eye looks that are doable and easy and beautiful and I've found it! I recreated this look and it looked almost exactly like the picture! This will for sure be my next date night look. :)

http://youtu.be/0HgdWM14B-0  <-------- check out the YouTube video on how to create this look. You can go to her blog from the YouTube video to see what colors she used and all that jazz too. This is by far my favorite look right now! And it was so easy! You don't need to use 6 different colors to get the look.

I'm in love with these MAC e/s!!

Bridgette's wedding pictures!

I finally have some of the pictures from a wedding I did on June 4th. I'm hoping to get a few more up close ones but these are none the less stunning! I added some extra ones just because I couldn't resist. The photographer did an amazing job at capturing every special moment. I feel like I didn't miss the wedding at all after seeing these great pictures. Check out the photographer's website by clicking here. Josephiney Photography did an awesome job for sure!

Bridgette's wedding party was a delight to work with. I ended up doing 5 of the bridesmaids and of course Bridgette. Each girl wanted something different so that was fun to create. Bridgette isn't a "makeup girl" (probably because she is beautiful without it!) so I kept the look very light and natural. It was perfect for what she wanted and the look she was going for.

Here are some of the pictures that the photographer was so kind to let me snag from her. :) I'm hoping to get more from Bridgette soon (hint hint Bridgette lol)

Even through her beautiful tears, her makeup never smudged!

Beautiful!!! Be sure and check out http://www.josephineyphotography.com/ for more of the pictures!

FINALLY A MAC DUPE THAT'S WORTH LOOKING AT!!!

I am so stoked to share this treasure with you guys!! I have been looking high and low for dupes because let's face it, not everyone (including myself) can afford $30 eyeshadow pans. So I've been digging into every beauty blog I could find and I would check out the comparisons at the mall between what they would say was a good dupe for MAC shadows or any other expensive beauty product to the dupe they had listed. I've done my research on this one people! I would take my lil list of dupes and swipe my heart out on expensive shadows, etc and then head to Ulta or Sephora and swipe the dupe (if it was available) and this list I have included is by far the closest I've come to almost exact dupes. I've also included the link to the blogger's website so you could check out what other people are adding because it's quite amazing! I don't know about you guys but I'm so excited about this! Finally we can get some good dupes! Now I will say this, MAC by far has great pigmented, long lasting, products so there can never be a replacement to MAC but you can always substitute until you are in the position to buy the more expensive brands. I think people "pick" on MAC so much because they are so great! Also, and I can't stress this enough, a good canvas will make for a great picture so make sure your cleansing regimen and primer application is never skimped on! You can use less expensive products as long as you take care of your skin and apply primer!!! It's isn't a waste of money I promise. Great primers are Smashbox primer and Urban Decay Primer Potion. You can't go wrong with these. OK enough of my jabbering! Here is the list! ENJOY!!

MAC Dupe Forum

Dupe: In the makeup world, a duplicate product. An item similar to another item from a different brand; a substitute product. Often a dupe is referred to as an inexpensive alternative to a high end item.

I'd like to devote this blog post completely to MAC dupes. Thanks to my email buddy Maria for giving me the idea. I'm going to create a link on the side of my blog so this post will always be easily accessible.
**************************
Here's how it will work- If you know of some affordable duplicates to ANY MAC products- eyeshadow, blush, foundation, lipgloss... anything... leave a comment and tell me what they are. Then I'll post them right here to this page so they'll be organized for everyone to see. (I'll be updating as often as I can.) If you don't have a Blogger account and would rather send me an email, you can do that too: beautybroadcast@hotmail.com

If the "dupe" product does not have a name-- for example if your dupe is part of a palette-- please provide a description. EXAMPLE: "the light shade in the L'oreal HIP duo in Sculpted"-- or-- "the deep brown shade in the Cover Girl Country Woods quad." Also-- I WILL post multiple dupe products for one MAC item- if you have a different suggestion from the one posted- that's ok!

Summer Beach Makeup (for those that wear it)

I realize a lot of people don't wear makeup to the beach so this could be perfect for someone who wants the light look without packing on the makeup for like a date or a day out in the sun, not necessarily in the water :) I LOVE Kandee Johnson and I stalk her YouTube videos almost daily to see what she is coming out with next and I came across this one and thought it would be perfect to try for a summer day look. It's so pretty! So enjoy this video by the amazing Kandee Johnson!
