Leftovers=great facial remedies

Here is a list of some quick home remedies I've found (and tried) and they are things that I'm sure all of us use daily or weekly, so here we go!

Hydrate dry skin

Secret Ingredient: Honey

Squeeze a dime-size dollop of honey into palms, blend it with your regular face wash, and use the mixture to give your face a deep facial. For a body wash, use a walnut-size dollop of honey

Soothe puffy eyes

Secret ingredient: Chamomile tea

Steep two chamomile tea bags in warm water, then place in refrigerator to cool. Squeeze excess fluid from tea bags and place over tired eyes for 5 minutes

Smooth and exfoliate

Secret ingredient: Coffee beans

Dip a wet washcloth into leftover coffee grounds and massage into damp skin from neck down to slough off dead skin. Concentrate on cellulite prone areas like thighs to tighten skin.

Revive tired skin

Secret ingredient: Cucumber

Puree 1 small cucumber in blender, then add 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour. Stir until mixture is thick and pasty. Apply to clean, dry face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

I hope you enjoy these quick, very inexpensive ideas!!

M.O.M Great stuff!!!

In my adventure to find the best home remedies I came across a lot of blogs and posts about Milk of Magnesia. I have struggled daily with oily skin so my ears perked up when I heard you could use m.o.m on your face to rid oily skin (and it can be used for other things)! I ran out and bought some that night (along with other drug store products that I'm testing now..I will post after I review them myself (but you should have seen what I had in my little basket lol). I am insanely impressed with this miracle liquid. If you can get past purchasing it (which I didn't find it to be a big deal) you will fix your oily skin problems in no time. Here are a couple different ways I do it about 2 or 3 times a week:

1.In the evenings I put some m.o.m on a cotton ball and spread it on my freshly cleaned face and leave it on until the morning. I clean it off and then continue with my morning routine. (this will make your laundry basket grow as I change my pillow sheet about every other night to keep it clean)

2. I put it on about 15 minutes before my makeup routine and then rinse it off with water before I start my moisturize, primer, whatever. (this would be if I didn't do it the night before or if I don't need to put it on as long)

I don't have oily skin like I use to!!! It really is amazing! Now some claim that it's a good primer but I like e.l.f's primer for an inexpensive choice or Smashbox primer for a high end choice. Plus it makes your face sort of white so I don't know that I'd like to have that on my face all day, especially in the summer when your trying to get a bronzed look. ;)

I hear it's also great for acne. You would just dab a little bit of m.o.m on your blemish and leave it on overnight and in the morning rinse off.

This can be drying so be careful on how much you use it. You will figure out a good schedule for what your skin needs. Just start with once a week and if that doesn't help, try twice a week and so on.

**Also very important*** Make sure to test this and anything else I blog about to make sure it's safe for your skin. Just because something works for me, doesn't mean that it will work for you! Swab a little bit on the back of your wrist or a small amount on the side of your face to see if you have a reaction to it before you apply it all over your face.

I hope you find this to be as great as I have! if you tried it, let me know what you thought.

How To Get Great Skin Naturally

Treat Acne, Oily Skin, Dryness, Sunburn, Eczema, Wrinkles, Calluses

There's no reason not to take care of your skin when these ingredients can be found in your kitchen. Try these natural tips for healthy, clean skin.

Try these easy natural beauty tips to look great and stay healthy. All of these ingredients are used in commercially prepared products – and they’re just a kitchen away.

Treating Acne

For persistent acne gently scrub the skin on your face or other problem area of your body with sea salt and a few drops of neem oil or a teaspoon of neem powder (both are available available at South Asian grocers). The salt is an antiseptic and the neem oil acts as an anti-fungal. Rinse off and wash face with your regular cleanser. Cinnamon or nutmeg powder can also be used with neem oil or honey to banish acne-causing bacteria.

Cleansing and Toning Skin

Banish oily skin with a homemade lemon toner. Combine lemon juice, distilled water and witch hazel in a clean bottle. Shake well before each use apply with a cotton pad. The lemon juice exfoliates the skin and evens out uneven skin tone while witch hazel is a herbal antibacterial cleanser.

Also try a yogurt mask to cleanse, exfoliate and boost circulation. Yogurt contains lactic acid, which dissolves dead skin cells. Add oatmeal or chickpea powder for oilier skin.
Honey is the perfect face mask for all types of skin. It has natural anti-bacterial and cleansing qualities for acne-prone skin and it hydrates, heals and balances dry skin. If you feel a burning sensation, rinse off immediately; some people are allergic to honey.

Soothing Eczema, Sunburns and Redness

Soothe minor eczema and dry skin flare-ups by applying olive oil directly to the irritated area. Rub the olive oil into the skin and leave on to nourish and heal the skin and create a barrier so skin won’t dry out.

Soak away feet calluses and rough hands. Give your toes a 30 minute bath in warm tea. The tannic acid in tea gently dissolves away calluses and rough dead skin build up. Any kind of tea will work but black tea is the best, simply add a teabag or two to a foot bath and let it brew.
Soothe redness with tomatoes. Lycopene a natural antioxidant found in tomatoes helps balance the skin’s pH balance ad improves ruddy, uneven complexions while the fruit acids get rid of excess skin oil. Try using fresh tomato juice like a toner and let it dry before rinsing with tepid water or make a mask by combining mashed tomato pulp with facial mask clay or finely ground oatmeal.

Get Glowing Skin and Shrink Pores

Glow with a ginger body scrub. The molecular properties of ginger cause a warming effect because they draw blood to the surface helping to increase circulation for healthy skin repair. Make your own natural ginger body scrub by combining freshly grated ginger root, coconut oil or olive oil and sugar. Rub mixture over your skin and let sit for 5 minutes before rinsing with tepid water.

Grapefruit is not only part of a healthy breakfast, it can also shrink pores. Citric acid, grapefruit’s main component acts as a mild astringent and exfoliator getting deep down into the pores to remove dirt and impurities for clean, fresh skin. Use grapefruit juice alone applied as a toner and rinsed off after a few minutes or make your own grapefruit cleanser with olive oil, grapefruit juice and borax powder.

Hydrate Dry Skin

Quench dry, weather-beaten skin with an avocado facial. Simply mash or puree a piece of avocado and apply to skin. Leave on for about 15 minutes before rinsing off with tepid water. Avocados are loaded with vitamin E and monounsaturated fats and will keep skin cells nicely hydrated whether applied as a mask or eaten.
Take a break from your everyday products and try these gentle age-old kitchen remedies to soothe and refresh your skin. Always store any left over product in a tightly covered container in the fridge and use within five to seven days for best results

Lip Scrub

With summer coming you want to be sure that your lips will be ready for those bronze glosses that are coming out so get ready for a sweet scrub! Nobody wants to see dry cracked lips under shiny gloss..yucky. So here is a quick sugar scrub that will exfoliate your lips and get them smoother than a baby's bottom. :)

You will need:
  • Sugar
  • Vitamin E oil
Just mix the two together and gently rub it on your lips, back and forth for about 1 minute. Vitamin E oil is great for your skin for anti aging and also a great moisturizer so if it gets on your face, awesome! Embrace it and rub it in! :)

Once you've rubbed the scrub, rinse it off with water (room temp is fine) or with a damp cloth and then reapply the vitamin E oil. I do this before I go to bed and in the morning my lips feel smooth and amazing and my lipsticks and glosses go on soooo much better!

Let me know what you think about this scrub!

Be blessed!

Cool as a Cucumber

Being on vacation I'm out in the sun a lot, laying out, watching the kids play in the ocean and being out here I'm getting quite a lot of sun. (i know I should be wearing sunscreen) so since I'm getting soooooo much sun, I needed something to cool it down. I didn't bring everything from my house for my skin so I searched the frig for a remedy and thought why not try a cucumber? My face feels amazing! Cucumbers are not only good for the eyes but they are so great for sunburn! Try it and let me know what you think. (sorry for the short blog and nothing extra, I'm blogging from my phone) Be blessed and 2beautiful always! (and wear sunscreen) :)

Natural Face Lift

Crazy excited about this one!!! So I'm going to get right into it. This is for the "wiser" women and men that check in to my blog or anybody else that wants that lift without going under the knife. Here is what you need:
  • 2 Egg Whites
  • 1 Teaspoon of Sugar (see there is good in sugar) (this is optional also)
Mix the egg whites until they are firm and consistent. It's better to beat it with a whisk. Add the sugar and mix it really well to make sure it's blended. Avoiding your eyes, put the mask on your face for 25 minutes and then rinse with room temp water. You have just given yourself an instant face lift!!! You will see the difference right away. Your pores will be smaller too! Now this doesn't last for days or anything but if you want an instant lift for a night out or that important date or just because you wanna feel gosh darn great about yourself then you do this! I can't wait to hear what you all think about this. Please comment and tell me! :) :) :)
Here is some really cool details about this mask. Eggs have albumin in them. This is the same ingredient that is used in BOTOX!!! WHAT!!!! :) It's also used in Juvederm and Latisse. If you don't believe me, look it up! So instead of paying hundreds of dollars on a face lift, you can just scope out the frig for 2 eggs and some sugar. Who doesn't have that???

What's up Doc?

I got this great tip from a fellow blogger and thought it was too good not to share! So here it is and let me know what you think about it. :)
Not only are carrots good for your health, they can tone and clarify your skin, since they are naturally antiseptic and packed with vitamins (like carotene) and iron. Carrots are readily available all year round so your local grocery store should always have some in stock. Homemade masks made from carrots are most appropriate for people with normal to oily skin types but since you're the chef to these beauty recipes, you can include other ingredients that suit your own needs. My skin tends to be more on the dry side like myself, so I like to add in extra doses of extra virgin olive oil or even half of a mashed avocado to create a hydrating mask. Nom on some carrots while you whip up this easy face mask that will be soothing and delicious for your skin!
HOW TO Homemade Carrot Face Mask
  1. Peel & steam carrots. Peel one large carrot and steam or boil until tender (when a fork can easily pierce through it, it's ready). Mash the carrot with a fork or masher until it's a creamy consistency.
  2. Mix in honey and extra virgin olive oil. Mix in half a tablespoon of honey and half a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. If your skin is oily, you may omit the extra virgin olive oil.
  3. Add a few drops of lemon juice. Your skin type will depend on the amount of lemon juice you add in (lemon juice is a natural astringent, so the oilier your skin, the more lemon you want in your mask). If you have dry skin, add about 8 drops of lemon and if you have oily skin, add up to 1 tablespoon.
  4. Check consistency. The mixture shouldn't be too clumpy or too runny. If the mix is too thick, you can add in a bit more extra virgin olive oil or water to thin it out. You can add a bit more honey to the mix to give it a thicker, paste-like texture.
  5. Cool down. Let the mixture cool down so that the temperature is comfortable on your skin.
  6. Mask time. Apply the carrot mask onto a clean and bare face, even your neck if you wish, but avoid the eye and mouth area. Leave it on for 10 -15 minutes and wash it off with warm water afterwards. Pat dry and follow up with your favorite moisturizer or eye cream.
@beautylish has amazing tips! I hope you all like this one. I can't wait to try it out!

What to rinse it with you ask? Coconut Water! And it's ok if you get some in your mouth because it tastes amazing and is great for your innerds too (is innerds a word? First I want to say that I am bursting with great secrets but I will introduce them slowly so that you can try each and every one of them and let me know what you think. So here we go with the first one......When I was about 19 or 20 my face exploded with acne! I had the worst problem with it and it seemed like nothing helped. I would pick at it and it would only get worse. I tried every cleanser, prescription and over the counter, I seen a dermatologist, and I even tanned (which if I'm being honest helped some) but nothing completely eliminated my embarrassing problem. So for all of you young woman I FEEL YOU ON THIS! I think that's why I'm so passionate about this secret; so are you ready to hear what it is??????? It's food!!!! No you don't eat it, you put it on your face. I will give you the first 2beautiful secret but stay locked in to my secrets because there will be more. I want all you girls to be prom prepped and ready for a wonderful, 2 beautiful night on your most important teenage event! SO get honey and cinnamon THAT'S IT!!! Take one teaspoon of honey and half a teaspoon of cinnamon, mix it up really good and put it in the fridge overnight. When you wake up in the morning, put it on your acne prone skin for 15 minutes and then rinse with cool water. It will eliminate pimples super fast! Now listen for a sec, everybody wants a miracle diet, 1 second beauty, and disappearing acne but that doesn't happen, at least not right away so if you're expecting the zit to be gone when you wash the honey and cinnamon off, you will be greatly disappointed. BUT! It will erase the pimple faster than any product I can assure you of that!!! Try it and let me know what you think and stay tuned for more 2beautiful secrets for great skin!!!
