A Servants Heart and Calling

Wow! I didn't realize it had been so long since I'd updated this blog. :( I think I'm realizing more and more what my responsibilities are and what is more important in my life right now. I LOVE makeup and I love doing other women's makeup but I don't think it needs to be a priority in my life anymore to share everything I've purchased and blog about it. My "duties" have shifted and now more than ever I need to focus on my relationship with God and what He wants for my life. I've grown so much just in the past year and although I've stumbled along the way and messed things up a little I know God has a greater plan for me and it doesn't include blogging daily about makeup. :) I still want to make it very clear that I'm available for jobs, like weddings or proms or whatever but this blog isn't going to be something I update all the time. I still want to do makeup as a hobby and try new things and new ways to wear color and I will update my blog from time to time but my focus is shifting from spending hours on YouTube learning about all the new makeup stuff to spending time in the Word and learning about my Lord.

I know I sound a little corny and those of you who know me know I can be dramatic at times but I really feel like my life is going in a very different direction and I choose to say YES LORD. I want Him to have His way in my life and make me all that He created me to be. I want to be that vessel and serve Him.

I still want to talk makeup and learn and grow and make woman feel and look beautiful and try new stuff and all that but it's not going to be up there on my priority list.

Having said all of that I pray each and every one of you who read this reaches for greatness in life! I pray you never allow doubt or worry to hinder what GOD wants to do in your life. We need to stop being ashamed or worried about what other people think or say and stand for what we believe in. For me, what hindered me for so long was thinking that God couldn't use me because I wasn't "perfect" or because I didn't do all the right things but the closer I draw to Him, the more I know He uses me because I'm His favorite and He loves me and He uses my shortcomings for His glory and guess what??? He can use you because YOUR HIS FAVORITE AND HE LOVES YOU! There is nothing in our lives that God doesn't say "it's OK, get up, dust yourself off and let's try it again". He is a merciful Saviour! I know ever since God has become first in my life it's made such a difference in who I am and how I see things and I pray you step out in boldness and receive all the great things God has in store for you because He is just waiting to shower you with greatness and love!

OK I'm going to stop while I'm ahead. :) If your reading this and it's been a few weeks or months since I've last posted you can still contact me for jobs. As long as this website is up, I'll be available unless otherwise noted.

God bless you all and may you find a boldness you've never known to reach for your dreams and goals and make God the center of all of it!

Update and news

Hello beauties! I have some exciting and some not so exciting news....

Well the shoot I was so excited to be a part of this month was moved to last weekend and those of you that know me know that I was hosting a party for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and also my first born turned 15 so needless to say I had more important things to do but was nonetheless extremely disappointed. Everything about this shoot was exactly what I have been wanting to do for so long but it just wasn't possible. I will say that the pictures were amazing from what I saw and the makeup artist that was lucky enough to be a part of the shoot did an amazing job! Here is a link to both of their websites: Yellow Bee Photography and Bethza Seminario Makeup Artist. ( I don't know if the models have websites so my apologies for not including them). Everyone involved was extremely talented and from what I saw it really looked amazing, great job guys!

Now on to better news! My daughter got a really nice Nikon camera for her birthday and we all know what that means right?!!??!??!? Now I can bribe her into taking some pictures of looks that I do for tutorials and whatnot :):):) She said she would do it for me so I have to ease my way into her photography world and hopefully start getting some FOTD (face of the day) looks for all of you! I have waited so long for this because I know when I go blog surfing I look for ones that have FOTD's so I can get some ideas and with my blog not having that it has really suffered and another good thing about my daughter taking my pictures is so that when I have a really good makeup day and I'm luvin the look and want to share it, it doesn't come out like this:

I even tried to take a picture once I got to work in our bathroom thinking it would be better lighting (which it was) but I'm desperate for a camera people! And I loved this look so much, it was an everyday natural dewy look...LOVED IT! lol Well now because of my wonderful daughter's passion for photography, she is going to help me out so get ready faithful followers! I can't wait to share my ideas and looks with all of you.

And if you have a look you'd like to see tell me about it and we'll see what we can come up with together!

As always, be blessed beauties!!!

Exciting News!!!

As you can see I've updated my blog design. I was getting a little tired of the bold colors and I'd seen that color scheme on so many other beauty blogs that I wanted to be a little different!

I hope you all like my new design. It's a little "safer" than what I'm use to but I really like it. It brings the country out in me. :) I feel I'm getting crazier with my makeup and safer with my blog. lol

On to more exciting news......... I'm going to be featured in a magazine out of Chicago!!!! WOW right!?!??! I couldn't be more excited and humbled by such an amazing opportunity! I'm not sure the name of the magazine yet because the photographer just asked me to do the makeup for it. The theme is very earthy and natural which is right up my alley! I love doing smoked out eyes and pretty soft lips. The models are absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to work with them. So stay tuned to see those pictures sometime in October.

Also, I want to hear from you!! I check my blog weekly to see if people are still interested and I get almost 500 hits a week (to me that's HUGE so thank you to all who check me out) but it makes me wonder when I post a quiz or ask for feedback....I get nothing. :( I would love to hear from all 500 of you but I'll settle for half of that. :) All joking aside though, I want to hear what you want to see, what you think, what works and what doesn't. I'm still very new to all of this and I want to give you all what you want so advice is greatly appreciated (and needed I'm sure). I want to make this your go to place but I can't make it that if I don't know what you want so share your thoughts and opinions...I want to hear all about it.......I think ;)

As far as my work goes with the makeup and stuff it's going great! I couldn't be happier. It's just busy enough for me with everything else I have going on. Much of the work that I do I don't get pictures simply because I haven't been able to bring myself to purchase a camera. I know, I know, I need to. Also, some people are funny about having their pictures on a blog or on the world wide web. But all in all, I'm blessed and couldn't be happier with how things are right now. I do what I do because I want to, not because I have to or need to and that's exactly where I want to stay. :)

So in closing, contact me if you would like to talk makeup, set up an appointment, give me advice, or whatever. I would love to hear from all of you! Also, whatcha think about my new design?? Do you like it?

Be blessed beauties!

WAKE UP!!!!!! (and simple ways to do it)

1. BUFF TO GLOW. Use an exfoliating cleanser or enzyme mask to boost circulation, slough off dead cells and de-clog pores. Healthier-looking skin surfaces in seconds.
2. LIFT YOUR BROWS. Tweeze away droopy hairs that curve around eyes and exacerbate droop. Use pencil and powder to fill and extend brows outwards.

3. USE A FACE PRIMER. Prevent makeup from creasing, caking and settling in expression lines and fill the pores on your nose in one step. Your face won't look like an unmade bed.

4. GO SHEERER AND WARMER WITH FOUNDATION. Yellow toned foundation freshens grey, pasty, stressed skin. Skim a damp makeup sponge over you face to remove excess coverage and create a dewy skin-like look.

5. WAKE UP EYES WITH HIGHLIGHTER. Piling on skin tone concealer emphasizes under-eye bags and puffiness. Use a highlighter pen or soft white pencil to brighten eyes at the inner eye corners and add sparkle.

6. CORRECT CIRCLES WITH TINTS. Hide super-dark circles with tinted shades- orange/yellow concealer for blue/purple circles, mauve/rose for brown circles. Skin-tone cover-up won't do it.

7. KEEP EYE MAKEUP CLEAN AND CRISP. No smudgy or smoky- a crisp eye compensates for loose skin and pouches below. Dot a felt-tip black liner beneath the top lashes (hold lid taut and lift it to do this) to keep definition sharp.

8. GET OUT THE BRONZER. Apply a skin compatible bronzer (not too dark) in a C-shape to cheekbones and forehead, on chin and down the neck for radiance. Skip the nose.

9. APPLY CREAM BLUSH ON CHEEKBONES. Forget about apples. Blush goes high on the cheekbones away from the nose and nasal labial folds. Cream blush makes bronzer look real and adds life to your face.

10. BRIGHTEN LIPS. Swap nudes for clear pink, apricot, coral, rose or raspberry shades that bring attention to lips not lines.

And don't forget....LOTS OF SLEEP AND WATER! Nothing stresses out the skin like lack of sleep and water.

Here's to refreshed skin!

WATER WATER WATER

I can't stress enough how amazing water is for your skin and to prove it I did a little project of my own to see just how effective water was.

For one week I didn't drink  pure water. I just drank pop or milk or sports drink for 7 days. I felt more tired, my skin looked horrible and started breaking out (I didn't try any new products either so I knew it wasn't from that), I didn't have much success expelling my food if you know what I mean ;), my hair looked dry, I had bags under my eyes, etc. Now having said all of that let me say this: I didn't look like death by any means. I could still function, work, play, all that jazz but I did notice a difference in so many areas. Enough to make me want to drink even more water and less sugar now. Our bodies need water to survive and look healthy, just like it needs fresh fruits and veggies. :) Here are some links I found on the benefits of drinking water:

I really enjoyed reading these articles about water. I know this isn't a super exciting post about makeup or looking "2beautiful" but I promise you without water no amount of makeup will help out at all! Water is vital in looking good and feeling great. And don't forget water helps in weight loss! If you can't stand the taste of water mix sugar free flavor packets with it. I do this daily so I don't ever get bored with the taste.

I challenge you to try drinking nothing but water for one week, 8-10 glasses per day, and see the difference yourself. (Be sure and still eat lol I'm not saying just drink water only) If you don't see a difference it can only be because you already drink lots o water :)

Be refreshed and hydrated always!!
